Decorative Cowboy Boots: Endless Versatility

Cowboy boots are pretty classic. They are a fashion item that can be found across America, stomping city streets and country landscapes alike. You'll see cowboy boots paired with jeans, skirts, and heck, even business suits. They are considered quite the versatile fashion item. There may or may not be another trace of western apparel in the outfits they are being paired with, but that really doesn't matter these days.

When it comes to classics, cowboy boots have certainly earned their place, as have other western wear items. For example, you'll see the large decorative belt buckles being worn with various styles, and the classic western shirts have certainly shown up time and time again, on the runway and off. Why is western wear such a lasting trend? Well, in part that is because western apparel is not just a trend. Western wear is about more than looking fashionable- it is functional apparel.

Think about it- cowboys aren't wearing boots because they look good with jeans. They are wearing boots because they protect their legs and ankles (from hazards such as snakes, rocks, briars, barbed wire fences) and work with stirrups (they are easy to slip into and out of stirrups, they stay put thanks to the heel, and if a rider gets thrown and a boot gets caught in the stirrup it will pull off the foot rather than dragging the rider behind it). Likewise, the jeans themselves are durable enough to be put through all the wear and tear of a day's work, as well as the frequent washings they will undoubtedly endure.

So, while fashion trends may come and go, rest easy knowing that when you're in western wear (whether you're wearing it for the fashion aspect or because that's what you go to work in) you're dressing in style. You can mix and match western wear with other styles of dress without wondering if your culture fusion will confuse, or heaven-forbid, offend others. All in all, you can't really go wrong with western apparel. You might also look to some of the dressier styles of western wear to see what you can find there to wear, as there is a wide variety of styles, and you'll find some pretty fancy stitching going on in among fancier cowboy fashions.

If you haven't yet started exploring western fashion, you might like to ease yourself in. Why not start with a cowboy hat, or an item that is both inexpensive as well as easy to match up with an outfit. You don't need to don the whole get-up to bring a stylish western flair to your outfit. You might also enjoy exploring trends that have come up from Mexico that often bear similarity to what we classically think of as western wear. These elements you'll find to be very rich in color and detail.
